Art & Design
Hope Curran, artist
" an outward expression of an inward condition
As an artist I paint. As a designer, beyond scenography, art direction & interiors, I design and manufacture logos & web pages for clients.
As a painter, I look to engage a kinaesthetic experience. In the past I have looked to express movement and physical gesture in the application of the paint on the canvas, reminiscent of Pollock. I have also been inspired by Frida Khalo, Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst. I paint for myself but have been encouraged to expose my works. I did so in Paris in 2018 at the Gallerie Achronique in Montmartre.
Currently I am inspired by Australian Tree Bark. Unable to return to Australia due to COVID, I find painting abstractions of tree bark soothing and connects me to my nature roots down under.
I paint with acrylic, watercolour and/or oils. I did art at high school but I am mostly self-taught.
I do sell my works, if you like anything, please contact me. I also do commissions.
